5 Tips For Working At Home

Make Your Bed

No matter the size of your apartment or home, your bed, and the room that it is in, is your cave. It is a space that should remain neat, put together, and clutter less. This is the space in which you rest your physical and energetic bodies. Decreasing clutter in this space will allow you to fall asleep faster, and you will have a more restful night sleep. This concept of taking care of the small things, has been found to change the belief systems of young children, altering generations to come.  Another benefit to making your bed, is that you accomplish your FIRST task of the day. Completing this task will encourage you to complete another, and by the end of the day you will find yourself more productive. "If you can't do the little things right, then you will never get the big things right. If by change you have a miserable day, then you will come home to a bed that is made. A made bed gives you encouragement that tomorrow will be better. If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed!"

Set Regular Hours

Setting dedicated time for work will allow you to be more productive for a set time. Ask yourself "Am I being Productive or just active?" It is important to manage your time intelligently rather than fitting everything into your schedule. Do the 20% of the work that draws 80% of productivity. Focus your time and attention on retaining the valuable customers/ investors. “Never automate something that can be eliminated and never delegate something that can be automated or streamlined." Make a list of important tasks that you can delegate to someone else so your attention goes toward more important tasks of the day.

Set the Scene

It is important to have a dedicated work space. Research has found that your body excels when a routine is created. Having a space where you do work will allow your brain to get into work mode, and then turn off when you leave that designated space.

Rest Your Eyes

As we are all sitting in front of our screens more than ever, Blue Light Glasses are imperative!

OSU College of Science who studies biological clocks, led a research collaboration that examined how flies responded to daily 12-hour exposures to blue LED light -- similar to the prevalent blue wavelength in devices like phones and tablets -- and found that the light accelerated aging.

Flies subjected to daily cycles of 12 hours in light and 12 hours in darkness had shorter lives compared to flies kept in total darkness or those kept in light with the blue wavelengths filtered out. The flies exposed to blue light showed damage to their retinal cells and brain neurons and had impaired locomotion -- the flies' ability to climb the walls of their enclosures, a common behavior, was diminished.
